Zambia remains steadfast in promoting good governance
President Edgar Lungu says Zambia remained steadfast in promoting good governance in the country and will continue with its good standing as a beacon of peace in Africa and World over.
Meanwhile, President Lungu has hailed the warm existing bilateral relations between Zambia and Angola, and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthen it further.
Speaking when out-going Angolan Ambassador to Zambia, Balbina Silva paid a courtesy call on him at State House to bid farewell President Lungu says he will do everything possible, bilaterally and multilaterally through his position as chairperson of SADC Troika on politics, defender and security to promote good governance and enhance the existing co-operation with other countries.
He pointed out that Zambia will continue to maintain friendly diplomatic and trade relations with other countries with priority given to remaining committed to promoting good governance, peace and security at home and abroad.
President Lungu stated that economic development and social progress was vital to the uplifting of the welfare of the people of the two countries which he said could only be achieved through the promotion of good governance.
He further called on the two the governments to work towards the implementation of the existing bilateral relations especially those promoting the construction of infrastructure to link the two countries such as the Shangombo Rivungo Canal, and the construction of road infrastructure and railway lines.C
And Ms Silva who has been Angolan Ambassador to Zambia since 2011, has thanked the Zambian Government for the support rendered to her during her tour of duty in the country.
Ms Silva says the Zambian Government had also been very supportive towards a number of projects her Government was undertaking in Zambia.
She has since pledged her continued personal availability on on-going projects if need be.
